The Trouble with Planning
Shira Rubenstein Every so often honey starts to bleed from my mother’s nostrils and she has to open her mouth wide to let the bees out. We know it hurts her to keep her jaw tensed but she never complains so nor do we when the bees sting us, although sometimes we cannot help but cry. Then she cries. Still, to avoid agitating the bees, she doesn’t move to wipe the tears. When it’s over she lets us clean her face with our hands and lick honey from our fingers. |
